OCEANIC URBAN RESEARCH CENTER
Who we are:
OUR-C is a Christian, fully interactive learning center that allows children and young adults from local urban areas to gain further knowledge of the ocean that environs our state. It will take oceanic and marine biology education to a new dimension along with teaching social skills and concepts, advanced math and reading skills. Our facility will allow us to introduce ocean science related careers to inner city youth and all those who desire to learn more about the sea from a Christ centered point of view.
The OUR-C learning center will provide an atmosphere that will completely immerse visitors, staff, and most importantly the students into the world of our oceans. All programs and exhibits will put special emphasis on locally found marine life and ocean biodiversity. By focusing on local interests the students will begin to have a hands on impact on the immediate surrounding areas. The educational goal of OUR-C is to ready our students for ongoing college education in marine biology, or other ocean or marine based fields of study.
