VOLUNTEER ROLES AT OUR-C:
Volunteers play a very important role here at the Oceanic Urban Research Center. Our volunteers are the helping hand to teachers, administration, and also run many of our special programs. Because we are a Christian organization we fully expect our volunteers to share our faith and beliefs. This should also determine how our volunteers conduct themselves here at the center and outside in their private lives.
If you are interested in volunteer opportunities here at OUR-C please understand that both our student's SPIRITUAL and PHYSICAL safety are our utmost concern! Therefore before you are accepted as a volunteer you will undergo a full and thorough security screen and background check! Please also be advised that you will go through at least one interview ( maybe two ) before being considered as a volunteer. Here are a few things you should expect:
(1) Expect to be fingerprinted and be photographed. - These will be kept on file at the center.
(2) Expect us to run a full background check on you.
(3) Expect to be asked to present a valid drivers license or state I.D., Birth Certificate, and proof of baptism or letter of church attendance.
(4) Expect to sign an agreement to our statement of faith - This states that you also share our beliefs.
(5) You may also be required to do a basic swim test ( depending on the area in which you are signing up for) and asked to complete an onsite C.P.R. certification class before being allowed to volunteer. If this is a requirement, certification opportunities will be provided for you.
